Alabama extended its winning streak to four games Saturday night as Aden Holloway scored 20 points to lift the Crimson Tide past South Carolina 89-75 in SEC play at Coleman Coliseum.

Alabama (18-7, 8-4 SEC) delivered an efficient offensive performance with three players scoring at least 19 points. Holloway shot 6 of 9 from the field, including 4 of 5 from three point range. Labaron Philon Jr added 19 points on 5 of 8 shooting, while reserve Latrell Wrightsell Jr contributed 19 points and 3 three pointers off the bench.

The Crimson Tide shot 52 percent from the field and controlled tempo for most of the night. Aiden Sherrell added 11 points and Amari Allen provided key interior production with 8 points and 10 rebounds, helping Alabama maintain balance on both ends of the floor.

The breaking update came midway through the first half when Holloway connected on a three pointer with 9:56 remaining to break a 23-23 tie. Moments later, Jalil Bethea converted a fast break dunk to give Alabama a lead it would not relinquish. Consecutive three pointers from Holloway and Philon pushed the margin to 41-29 with 2:52 before halftime. Alabama entered the break ahead 45-32.

South Carolina (11-14, 2-10 SEC) mounted a second half push behind Meechie Johnson, who scored 24 of his 26 points after halftime. Kobe Knox added 21 points and Mike Sharavjamts finished with 14. Johnson’s three pointer with 8:20 remaining capped an 11-2 personal run that trimmed the deficit to 63-56.

However, Alabama responded with timely stops and free throws. Wrightsell converted two free throws with 2:48 remaining to restore a comfortable margin, and the Crimson Tide held a double digit advantage the rest of the way.

From a standings perspective, the latest timeline strengthens Alabama’s position in the upper tier of the SEC as postseason positioning becomes clearer. Coach Nate Oats has emphasized perimeter efficiency and defensive rebounding, both of which were evident in this performance. Alabama’s ability to generate consistent three point production from multiple guards mirrors previous tournament caliber teams under Oats.

For South Carolina, the outlook remains challenging. Coach Lamont Paris continues to search for defensive consistency as the Gamecocks attempt to stabilize their conference record. The offensive surge from Johnson highlights individual growth, but team defense and rebounding remain key areas for improvement.

What this means moving forward is significant for both programs. Alabama prepares to host No. 21 Arkansas in a matchup that could influence SEC tournament seeding and NCAA Tournament projections. South Carolina travels to face No 14 Florida on Tuesday, seeking to halt its slide and regain momentum.

As the regular season enters its final stretch, Alabama’s balanced scoring and improved efficiency signal a team trending upward at the right time in the SEC race.
