Anthony Edwards Powers Timberwolves Past Thunder With Season High Three Point Barrage in Latest NBA Update

MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota continued its recent turnaround Thursday night as Anthony Edwards scored 26 points and the Timberwolves tied a season high with 22 made three point shots in a 123 to 111 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder at Target Center, a result that reinforced Minnesotas growing offensive rhythm and exposed lingering defensive gaps for the Thunder.

Minnesota established control early behind efficient perimeter shooting and never trailed in the second half. The Timberwolves finished 22 of 47 from three point range for 46.8 percent, matching the second most three pointers Oklahoma City has allowed this season. Jaden McDaniels delivered one of his most efficient outings of the year with 21 points while going 5 for 5 from beyond the arc. Naz Reid added 18 points off the bench and connected on four three pointers, giving Minnesota consistent scoring across multiple lineup combinations.

Edwards set the tone in the opening quarter, scoring 12 points as the Timberwolves built a 14 point lead after one. Minnesota has now won three straight games following a season long five game losing streak, a stretch that had raised questions about lineup continuity and late game execution earlier this month. This latest performance provided a clearer outlook on what this team can be when its spacing and ball movement align.

Oklahoma City was led by Shai Gilgeous Alexander, who finished with a game high 30 points while continuing his All NBA level production. Chet Holmgren contributed 15 points, and center Isaiah Hartenstein returned after missing 16 games with a calf injury, scoring 11 points. Despite Hartensteins presence, the Thunder were outrebounded 46 to 36 and struggled to protect the three point line throughout the night.

Turnovers proved decisive. Minnesota converted 16 Thunder turnovers into 30 points, offsetting its own 20 giveaways. A brief Oklahoma City push midway through the fourth quarter cut the deficit to 105 to 92, but a timely three pointer from Donte DiVincenzo halted the momentum and allowed the Timberwolves to close without further pressure.

Minnesota played without veteran point guard Mike Conley, opening extended minutes for Bones Hyland, who logged 23 minutes and scored nine points. The rotation adjustment did not disrupt offensive flow, an encouraging sign as the team manages workload and minor absences.

Before tipoff, Timberwolves players wore black shirts reading Stand for Minnesota during warmups in response to recent fatal shootings involving federal agents in Minneapolis.

Next steps see Oklahoma City traveling to Denver on Sunday as it looks to stabilize defensively against elite competition.

Minnesota heads to Memphis on Saturday with an opportunity to extend its streak and further solidify its standing in a crowded Western Conference race.
