Carson Beck didn’t take long to etch his name into Miami Hurricanes history.

The Georgia transfer quarterback completed his first 15 passes Saturday night, breaking a nearly four-decade-old Miami record for consecutive completions in a single game, as the No. 5 Hurricanes rolled past Bethune-Cookman 45–3 at Hard Rock Stadium. Beck finished 22-of-24 for 264 yards and two touchdowns in a nearly flawless performance, guiding Miami (2–0) to touchdowns on its first five drives before handing the game over to the backups early in the second half.

“It’s super cool, obviously, to perform at a high level and do things like that,” Beck said postgame. “Those guys were out there making plays and the O-line was giving me all the time in the world.”

Beck’s 15 straight completions broke the previous Miami record of 14 set by Heisman Trophy winner Vinny Testaverde in 1986 against Oklahoma. His only two incompletions came on a slight overthrow in the second quarter and a drop late in the third. The performance also extended Beck’s streak to 185 consecutive passes without an interception, dating back to his time at Georgia last season. Head coach Mario Cristobal praised his quarterback’s poise and progression.

“He keeps getting better and better,” Cristobal said. “Every practice, every week, there’s this continued growth and development. He wants to get better. He wants Miami to win. And he’s all about team.”

Wide receiver CJ Daniels was on the receiving end of both of Beck’s touchdown passes — one from 40 yards out in the first quarter and another from five yards in the second. Running backs Mark Fletcher Jr. (2), Marty Brown, and Girard Pringle each added rushing touchdowns for the Hurricanes. Bethune-Cookman (0–2) managed just 234 total yards and failed to find the end zone, settling for a 32-yard field goal from Juan Dominguez in the third quarter. Quarterback Timmy McClain completed 13 of 15 passes for 86 yards but couldn’t generate consistent offense. The game wasn’t without controversy. Miami linebacker Wesley Bissainthe was ejected on the opening series for targeting, and Bethune-Cookman safety Jordan Johnson was tossed in the third quarter for the same infraction. Johnson will miss the first half of next week’s game at South Carolina State.

With the win, Miami improved to 8–0 all-time against Bethune-Cookman and now turns its attention to a tough stretch of in-state matchups. The Hurricanes will host South Florida next week — a team fresh off a shocking 18–16 upset over No. 13 Florida — followed by the Gators on September 20 and a road trip to Florida State on October 4 to begin ACC play.

For Beck, who received a playful text from his former offensive coordinator Mike Bobo last week after nearly breaking Bobo’s personal record of 19 straight completions at Georgia, the record-setting night was just another step in a journey he hopes ends with Miami back in national championship contention.
