Cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine made one of the biggest plays of Wednesday’s practice when he intercepted quarterback Bo Nix on a pass intended for wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. The rookie defensive back has impressed early in camp, earning praise from head coach Sean Payton for his physical style and ability to compete. “Physical” has been a consistent theme for Abrams-Draine’s early showing, with Payton highlighting the cornerback’s confidence and quick development as he adjusts to the NFL level. While young players continue to make their mark, veteran wide receiver Lil’Jordan Humphrey has also drawn attention from the coaching staff. Payton noted that Humphrey has improved his conditioning and shown better speed, helping him remain part of the competition at a crowded wide receiver position. The Broncos also welcomed NFL officials to Wednesday’s practice as the league prepares teams for the upcoming season. Officials met with Denver’s players and coaches to review important rules and expectations heading into the 2026 campaign. Saturday’s practice will look slightly different as seven members of Denver’s coaching staff are expected to be away attending Drew Brees’ Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Canton, Ohio. Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph will take over leadership duties for the session.
