Bueckers, Wings Surge Past Mystics Behind Dominant Second Half.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Dallas Wings used a balanced offensive attack and a dominant second half Monday night to roll past the Washington Mystics 92-69, earning their first home victory of the season. Paige Bueckers led Dallas with 18 points and seven assists, knocking down four of her five attempts from 3-point range as the Wings improved to 2-2 on the year. Rookie Azzi Fudd provided a spark off the bench with a season-best 12 points, helping Dallas pull away late. Arike Ogunbowale added 16 points, while Jessica Shepard controlled the paint with 12 points, 16 rebounds and six assists. Shepard’s rebound total matched the highest single-game mark in the WNBA this season. Dallas turned defense into offense throughout the night, converting 18 Washington turnovers into 23 points. The Wings also continued to move the ball effectively, recording more than 20 assists for the third time in four games. The game remained competitive early before Dallas seized momentum late in the third quarter. The Wings closed the period on a 19-6 run to build a 66-46 advantage, then opened the fourth quarter with seven of the first nine points to stretch the lead to 25.

Washington struggled to keep pace offensively despite 12 points from Shakira Austin. Rookie Lauren Betts scored 11 points off the bench, while Kiki Iriafen contributed nine points and 10 rebounds for the Mystics, who dropped to 2-2. Maddy Siegrist chipped in 10 points off the bench for Dallas as the Wings cruised through the final minutes in front of their home crowd. Washington will next travel to Seattle to begin a back-to-back set against the Storm on Sunday, while Dallas heads to Chicago on Wednesday to open a three-game road trip.
