Ciryl Gane Unmoved by Tom Aspinall Fallout Ahead of Alex Pereira Clash.

Ciryl Gane says he has no intention of adjusting his fighting style despite the controversy surrounding his last outing against Tom Aspinall. The former interim heavyweight champion is preparing for another high-stakes appearance at UFC White House, where he is expected to face Alex Pereira for the UFC interim heavyweight title. Gane’s previous bout ended in dramatic fashion at UFC 321 last October when an accidental double eye poke forced the heavyweight title fight against Aspinall to be ruled a no-contest in the opening round.

Before the stoppage, Gane appeared sharp and composed, but the incident left Aspinall unable to continue after suffering significant damage to one eye. The fallout from the fight sparked criticism from the British champion, who later accused Gane of fighting recklessly.

Speaking this week, Gane dismissed suggestions that he needs to alter his defensive hand positioning or striking approach going forward. “Unfortunately, this happens at every event,” Gane said while discussing the incident. “It’s not something special.” He explained that the clash occurred during a kicking exchange when his hand rose instinctively as Aspinall moved toward him. “I landed my middle kick, and when you throw that kick, the hand comes with it,” Gane said. “He came forward and the first thing in front of me was his face, so I tried to push him away.” Despite the scrutiny that followed the fight and Aspinall’s lengthy recovery, Gane indicated he views the sequence as accidental rather than something that requires major technical adjustments. Now, attention turns to his looming showdown with Pereira, who continues to flirt with a permanent move to heavyweight after dominating the light heavyweight division.
