DETROIT — Cade Cunningham recorded 29 points and 13 assists as the Detroit Pistons defeated the New York Knicks 121-90 on Monday night. This was the teams’ first matchup since the Knicks eliminated Detroit 116-113 in Game 6 of last season’s first-round playoff series, ending the Pistons’ NBA-record 15-game postseason losing streak. Javonte Green contributed 17 points, while Jaden Ivey added 16, helping the Pistons outscore the Knicks 52-34 in the paint and secure a 44-30 advantage on the boards. For New York, Jalen Brunson led with 25 points, and Miles McBride added 17, though only Mikal Bridges joined them in double figures with 10 points. The loss marked New York’s fourth consecutive defeat. Detroit held a 64-54 lead at halftime, with Cunningham accounting for 14 points and seven assists. Despite shooting 53.8% from the field, including 57.1% from three-point range, the Knicks trailed thanks to Detroit’s dominance in the paint (36-22). The Pistons opened the second half with a 19-5 run over more than eight minutes, during which Cunningham scored 15 points and assisted on two more, pushing the lead to 24.

Looking ahead, the Knicks will host the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday, while the Pistons begin a six-game home stretch against the Chicago Bulls the same night.
