Dennis Rodman Headed to WWE Hall of Fame During WrestleMania Weekend.

Dennis Rodman is set to receive another major honor, this time in professional wrestling. Sources told ESPN that the five-time NBA champion will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during WrestleMania weekend in Las Vegas on April 17. Rodman became one of basketball’s most recognizable crossover stars in the late 1990s through his appearances in WCW. Although his wrestling career included only four official matches, his involvement generated major attention during the peak of the Monday Night Wars era. One of Rodman’s most memorable moments came during the 1998 NBA Finals when he left the Chicago Bulls to appear on “WCW Monday Nitro.” The appearance helped promote a celebrity tag-team match featuring Rodman and Hulk Hogan against Diamond Dallas Page and Karl Malone. WWE’s celebrity wing has previously honored several sports and entertainment figures, including Mike Tyson, Muhammad Ali, Pete Rose, Bob Uecker and William Perry. Rodman was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2011 following a legendary NBA career that included championships with both the Detroit Pistons and the Bulls.
