Fever Outlast Dream in Overtime as Playoff Race Tightens.

The Indiana Fever picked up one of their most important victories of the season Sunday, defeating the Atlanta Dream 95-91 in overtime at State Farm Arena. With the regular season nearing its conclusion, the matchup carried the intensity of a playoff game as both teams battled for positioning in the WNBA standings. Indiana improved to 23-12 with its fourth consecutive victory and moved 1½ games ahead of Atlanta, which fell to 21-13. The Fever also pulled within a half-game of the Las Vegas Aces. With playoff seeding still unsettled, every remaining game could have a major impact on home-court advantage. Caitlin Clark led Indiana with 26 points and nine assists, continuing to add to an impressive season. Kelsey Mitchell finished with 20 points, extending her streak of games with at least 20 points to 19. Aliyah Boston recorded a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Makayla Timpson delivered a career-high 20 points. Atlanta appeared to be in control late in the third quarter after building a 10-point advantage. Indiana steadily worked its way back into the game and eventually tied the score at 81. The Dream had two opportunities to win in the closing seconds of regulation, but Angel Reese and Naz Hillmon were unable to convert putback attempts after securing offensive rebounds. Those missed opportunities opened the door for Indiana in overtime. Boston and Timpson took advantage, combining for 10 of the Fever's 14 points in the extra period. Their production helped Indiana pull away and finish off the comeback. Atlanta received a standout performance from Allisha Gray, who tied her career high with 32 points while adding seven rebounds and five assists. Reese contributed 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists for her 23rd double-double of the season. Her continued dominance on the boards has also placed her within reach of Alyssa Thomas' WNBA single-season double-double record.

Beyond individual performances, the game demonstrated how closely matched Indiana and Atlanta have been this season. Sunday's result left their regular-season series tied at 2-2, making the victory particularly valuable for the Fever as both teams pursue favorable playoff positioning. The atmosphere also added to the significance of the matchup. The game was played at State Farm Arena, home of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, with fans of both teams filling the building to watch two of the league's biggest young stars in Clark and Reese. Indiana now has nine regular-season games remaining, including upcoming road contests against Toronto, Dallas, New York and Chicago. Five of the Fever's final nine games are against teams currently holding playoff positions. Atlanta has 10 games remaining and will continue its push for the postseason with a challenging road stretch that includes Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Phoenix. With only a handful of games separating several teams in the standings, Sunday's overtime battle may prove to be an important result when the final playoff seeds are determined.
