Former Jets Linebacker Anthony Wint Set for Dana White’s Contender Series Opportunity.

Former New York Jets linebacker Anthony Wint is set to take a major step in his MMA career after securing a spot on Dana White’s Contender Series later this summer. Wint, an undefeated heavyweight prospect with a 6-0 professional record, is scheduled to face Matt Adams on Aug. 11 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The matchup could earn the former NFL player a UFC contract if he impresses UFC president Dana White and matchmakers.

The 30-year-old began transitioning to mixed martial arts after his football career and has steadily built momentum on the regional circuit. Since making his amateur debut in 2021, Wint has developed a reputation as a powerful finisher, earning stoppages in five of his six pro victories, including four knockouts. Speaking about the opportunity, Wint said he believes his years of preparation are beginning to pay off and that he’s ready to prove he belongs at the sport’s highest level. Rather than viewing the Contender Series as a stepping stone, he sees it as a platform to showcase himself directly in front of UFC brass. Wint played college football at Florida International University before signing with the Jets as an undrafted free agent in 2018. Although his NFL tenure was brief, he has since found success competing in combat sports and recently captured a Fury FC heavyweight title in March. The UFC heavyweight division continues to search for fresh contenders, creating a possible opening for athletes like Wint. Several ranked heavyweights currently have limited professional experience, highlighting the division’s ongoing need for emerging talent.
