Houston Surges Past Kansas State 78-64 Behind Sharp’s 23 Points

Houston overcame an early deficit to secure a 78-64 victory over Kansas State on Saturday, extending the Cougars’ winning streak to six games and their home streak to 18.
Emanuel Sharp led Houston with 23 points and six rebounds, scoring 14 in the first half as the Cougars built a 33-19 halftime lead. Milos Uzan added 12 points and eight assists, while Kingston Flemings contributed 12 points and seven rebounds. Houston shot 41 percent from the field and made 11 of 26 three-point attempts to dominate the contest.
Kansas State opened with a strong start, racing to a 15-6 lead just over eight minutes into the first half on a three-pointer by P.J. Haggerty. Haggerty finished with 23 points and became the fifth active Division I player to surpass 2,000 career points. Nate Johnson added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Wildcats, and Taj Manning scored 10 points. Kansas State struggled from the field, making just 35 percent of shots, 31 percent from three, and 64 percent from the free-throw line.
Houston responded with a decisive 27-4 run to close the half, fueled by Sharp’s nine points and Uzan’s seven. The Wildcats were limited to one field goal in their final 15 attempts before halftime, setting the tone for the second half. Kansas State never got closer than 10 points as Houston controlled the pace and tempo.
The victory improves Houston to 23-2 overall and 11-1 in the Big 12, while Kansas State falls to 10-15 and 1-11 in conference play. The Wildcats have now dropped six consecutive games overall, including six straight on the road, and remain 0-6 against ranked teams this season.
Houston faces a challenging schedule next with a Monday matchup at No. 5 Iowa State, beginning a three-game stretch against Top-10 opponents.
Kansas State returns home to host Baylor on Tuesday in hopes of snapping its losing streak.
