Hunter Goodman Powers Rockies Past Astros, Snapping Six-Game Skid.

The Colorado Rockies ended a six-game losing streak with a narrow 3–2 victory over the Houston Astros on Thursday night in Houston. A strong performance from Hunter Goodman, who contributed both a home run and a double, played a key role in the win. The Astros struck early, taking a 2–0 lead in the first inning. Jose Altuve led off with a single and later scored on a hit by Yordan Alvarez. Shortly after, Joey Loperfido added to the lead with an RBI single that brought Alvarez home. Despite the early momentum, Houston’s offense struggled for the remainder of the game, finishing with just five hits. Colorado responded in the third inning. With the bases loaded, Tyler Freeman grounded into a double play, allowing one run to score and cutting the deficit to 2–1. Goodman then tied the game in the fourth inning with a solo home run. The Rockies took the lead in the fifth inning. Brenton Doyle reached base and advanced to second before Freeman delivered an RBI single to center field, bringing Doyle home and making it 3–2. Freeman finished the game with three hits, leading Colorado’s offense. Pitching was another decisive factor for the Rockies. Chase Dollander entered the game in the first inning and delivered an impressive performance, pitching 5 1/3 scoreless innings. He allowed only one hit and struck out nine batters to earn the win. Victor Vodnik closed the game with a scoreless ninth inning, recording his second save of the season.

Houston had a chance to tie or take the lead in the seventh inning after loading the bases with two outs. However, Carlos Correa lined out to end the threat, preserving Colorado’s lead.

With this win, the Rockies regained momentum and halted their losing streak, while the Astros continued to struggle, having lost nine of their last eleven games.
