Iowa Extends Winning Streak to Eight with 91-70 Victory over Ohio State.


Freshman Addie Deal scored a season-high 20 points, while Hannah Stuelke contributed 18 points and 15 rebounds, and Ava Heiden added 18 points as No. 10 Iowa defeated No. 12 Ohio State 91-70 on Sunday. The Hawkeyes (18-2, 9-0 Big Ten), competing in their third consecutive game against a ranked opponent, maintained their position atop the Big Ten standings alongside UCLA and extended their winning streak to eight games. Iowa also ended Ohio State’s seven-game winning streak. Stuelke recorded her sixth double-double of the season, matching her season-high in rebounds. Chazadi Wright added 14 points for Iowa, which will face UCLA next Sunday as part of a two-game West Coast trip. Iowa led by as many as 23 points in the second half, shooting 57.8% from the field while limiting Ohio State to 34.8%. The Hawkeyes also dominated the boards 48-30 and outscored the Buckeyes’ bench 33-3. Ohio State’s Jaloni Wright led all scorers with 26 points and 10 rebounds, with Chance Gray contributing 16 points and Ava Watson adding 10. Iowa lost starting guard Taylor McCabe to a knee injury on the first play of the game. The senior, who averages 8.5 points per game and leads the team with 49 three-pointers, was carried from the court by two staff members but returned later in the first half with her knee iced.


The Hawkeyes built a 48-32 halftime lead thanks to two first-half scoring runs. They closed the first quarter on a 16-3 run to lead 24-14 and followed with a 13-2 run late in the second quarter to reach their largest half-time advantage at 48-29. Iowa shot 57.6% in the half, outrebounded Ohio State 30-11, and scored 21 points off the bench compared to none for the Buckeyes. Iowa will play at USC on Thursday, while Ohio State will host Wisconsin.
