Denver Summit FC will be without midfielder Jasmine Aikey for the remainder of its inaugural campaign after the club confirmed she suffered a torn ACL in her right knee. The injury places her on the team’s season-ending injury list as she begins a long rehabilitation process.
The setback was announced earlier this week, with the club expressing strong support for Aikey during her recovery. Head coach Nick Cushing said the organization stands behind her and expects her determination to carry her through rehab, noting her importance to the group both on and off the field. Aikey arrived in Denver after a standout collegiate career at Stanford University, where she earned national recognition as one of the top players in women’s college soccer. She won the MAC Hermann Trophy and was also named the 2025 TopDrawerSoccer Player of the Year before signing her first professional contract with Denver. The injury comes during a milestone moment for Denver Summit FC, which is competing in its first-ever season. The club opened play on March 14 against Bay FC and is preparing for its first home match at Empower Field at Mile High on March 28 against the Washington Spirit. Despite being newly established, the team has already generated significant fan interest, reporting more than 50,000 tickets sold early in the season as it aims to challenge league attendance records for an inaugural club.
