Jaxson Dart Leaves Giants-Rams Game With Knee Injury.

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart exited Monday night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams after suffering a left knee injury during the opening series. Dart was hit while attempting to make a play on third-and-8. Rams linebacker Byron Young pressured him from the right side, and Dart was driven into linebacker Josaiah Stewart, whose contact sent Dart’s legs into the turf. The second-year quarterback immediately grabbed his left knee and remained on the ground before heading to the blue medical tent for evaluation. He later walked toward the locker room with a noticeable limp. The Giants initially listed Dart as questionable to return. Before leaving, Dart completed 3 of 5 passes for 20 yards. Jameis Winston took over at quarterback following Dart’s departure. Winston appeared in three games for New York last season, including two starts, and finished with 567 passing yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The Giants also dealt with an injury scare involving wide receiver Malik Nabers during the first half. Nabers went up for a pass and was hit by Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie, who knocked the ball away. Nabers immediately reached for his right shoulder and went to the sideline, where trainers examined him for several minutes. Nabers, who returned last week after recovering from a torn ACL, initially was considered questionable to return. He was able to get back onto the field later in the quarter.

Dart’s status remains a major storyline for the Giants as Monday night’s game continues, with Winston stepping in while the team awaits further evaluation of its starting quarterback.
