The interview occurs just before NFL rules permit in-person interviews with coaches currently under contract. Recent reports suggest Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is a leading candidate for the position. Hafley reportedly impressed Dolphins management during a virtual interview and has prior professional connections with new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, who joined Miami from Green Bay. Hafley is expected to be a finalist for multiple head coaching openings around the league. On January 17, the Atlanta Falcons announced the hiring of former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. Stefanski had previously interviewed with the Dolphins, including an in-person meeting, before finalizing his deal with Atlanta.
