The Colorado Rockies secured their first victory of the season with a decisive 14–5 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on March 30, 2026, in Toronto. Troy Johnston powered the offense with a two-run home run, while Ezequiel Tovar contributed three hits and three RBIs in the dominant performance. After dropping three consecutive one-run games against Miami to open the season, Colorado rebounded strongly, avoiding what would have been the franchise’s first 0–4 start. The win was especially notable given the Rockies’ historical struggles in Toronto, where they entered the game with a 2–11 all-time record. Colorado’s offense was relentless, finishing with 17 hits. Braxton Fulford added a home run, contributing to a lineup that showed significant improvement after totaling 19 hits across their previous three games combined. Toronto responded with solo home runs from George Springer, Kazuma Okamoto, and Andrés Giménez, while Davis Schneider hit a two-run shot. Despite these efforts, the Blue Jays were unable to contain Colorado’s surge. A key moment occurred in the third inning when Toronto pitcher Cody Ponce suffered a right knee injury after falling while attempting to field a ground ball. The incident allowed Colorado to score its first run. Ponce exited after 2 1/3 innings, having allowed one run on one hit. Reliever Louis Varland followed but gave up another run in limited action. Despite the loss, Toronto pitchers recorded 10 strikeouts, setting a Major League Baseball record with 60 strikeouts through the first four games of the season.
Chase Dollander earned the win for Colorado, pitching four innings in relief. After Springer briefly tied the game in the third inning, the Rockies regained control in the fourth and broke it open with a seven-run sixth inning. They added four more runs in the eighth inning against position player Tyler Heineman, sealing the rout. Looking ahead, the Blue Jays are expected to start right-hander Max Scherzer in the next game, while Colorado will counter with Ryan Feltner.
