The talented rookie has been competing in the Women’s Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) for the Guangdong Vermilion Birds, where she has performed strongly overall. However, an incident during a December 22 game led to a suspension and a financial penalty. Cardoso, who plays for the Chicago Sky, is considered one of the team’s most promising young players. She and fellow 2024 draft pick Angel Reese have shown significant potential for the franchise. Still, the team faces uncertainty as the WNBA negotiates a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with its players. Many Chicago players could become free agents depending on the outcome of those negotiations, making the organization’s future roster unclear.
