Kelly Krauskopf Steps Down as Indiana Fever President After Second Tenure.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indiana Fever announced Friday, October 23, that team president Kelly Krauskopf has stepped down, bringing her second tenure with the WNBA franchise to an end. Krauskopf, who played a major role in establishing the Fever and guiding the organization through some of its most successful seasons, said she notified team officials of her decision before the conclusion of the 2026 season. Her departure marks another significant change for a franchise preparing for its next chapter. Krauskopf's history with Indiana dates back to the team's formation. She was appointed president and general manager ahead of the Fever's inaugural season in 2000 and helped establish the organization as a consistent contender in the WNBA. During her first tenure, Indiana reached the postseason 12 consecutive times, appeared in three WNBA Finals and captured its first league championship in 2012. After nearly two decades with the Fever, Krauskopf moved into an executive position with the Indiana Pacers in 2018. Her appointment as assistant general manager made her the first woman to hold an executive basketball management position in NBA history. She returned to the Fever in 2024 as president of basketball and business operations, taking on a leadership role during an important period for the organization.
In a statement announcing her departure, Krauskopf expressed appreciation for the opportunity to help develop the franchise and acknowledged the support she received from team owner Herb Simon. She also expressed confidence in the Fever's future and the foundation established during her time with the organization.
Simon recognized Krauskopf's contributions to professional basketball in Indianapolis, emphasizing her role in building the franchise, delivering its first championship and returning to help guide the team through another period of development. Her departure closes a significant chapter in Fever history. From the franchise's earliest seasons to its championship success and recent organizational changes, Krauskopf has been one of the central figures in Indiana's basketball operations. The Fever now face another leadership transition as the organization looks to build on its history and continue developing its future in the WNBA.
The team has not identified a successor in the announcement.
