Kelsey Plum Suffers Ankle Sprain, Sparks Star to Miss at Least One Week.

Kelsey Plum will be sidelined for at least a week after suffering an ankle sprain during practice Tuesday, according to the Los Angeles Sparks. The four-time WNBA All-Star is expected to be reevaluated in seven days after the injury temporarily halts what has been one of the hottest starts in the league this season. Through six games, Plum leads the WNBA in scoring with 26.8 points per game while shooting an impressive 58.9% from the field and 48.8% from beyond the arc. Her production has helped keep the Sparks competitive early in the season as the revamped roster continues to build chemistry. Los Angeles currently sits at 3-3 after a statement 101-95 victory over the defending champion Las Vegas Aces. In that matchup, Plum erupted for 38 points and nine assists against her former team, delivering one of the top individual performances of the young season. The Sparks made major offseason moves by adding veterans Nneka Ogwumike and Ariel Atkins alongside Plum as the franchise looks to return to championship contention. Despite the injury setback, Plum has been one of the league’s most durable players in recent years, missing only four total games over the previous four seasons. Los Angeles now faces a challenging stretch without its leading scorer, beginning with games against the Washington Mystics on Friday, the Connecticut Sun on Saturday, and another rematch with the Aces on Tuesday.
