Lexi Brown’s 3-Point Surge Lifts Storm Past Sun, 89–82

UNCASVILLE, Conn. — Lexie Brown caught fire from beyond the arc, knocking down five 3-pointers and finishing with 17 points to lead the Seattle Storm to an 89–82 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday. Seattle (1–1) got a balanced offensive effort, with Flau’jae Johnson adding 16 points and Jade Melbourne contributing 15 points and six assists off the bench. Natisha Hiedeman chipped in 11 points, while Dominique Malonga battled foul trouble, finishing with six points, seven rebounds, three blocks and two steals in limited minutes. Connecticut (0–2) threatened late when Kennedy Burke drilled a 3-pointer to cut the deficit to one with just over three minutes remaining. But Brown responded immediately with a driving layup, igniting an 8–1 run that sealed the game for Seattle in the final minute.

The Sun were led by Aneesah Morrow, who posted 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Brittney Griner added 16 points, while Diamond Miller scored 13. Burke finished with 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and two blocks in an all-around performance.

Rookie Hailey Van Lith contributed nine points and four assists in 20 minutes off the bench. Van Lith, the No. 11 pick in the 2025 draft by the Chicago Sky, was waived earlier in the week before signing with Connecticut. The turning point came in the third quarter, when Brown buried four 3-pointers in just over 90 seconds to cap a 13–0 run, giving Seattle a nine-point cushion it would not relinquish.

The Storm finished with 10 made 3-pointers, forced 10 steals and held a decisive edge at the free-throw line, outscoring Connecticut 25–16. Up next: Seattle travels to face Toronto on Wednesday, while Connecticut returns home to host Las Vegas.
