Bruno Fernandes delivered a decisive performance at Molineux as Manchester United defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 4–1, lifting the club to sixth place in the Premier League table and compounding the host side’s increasingly dire season. Wolves, who remain at the bottom of the league with only two points from their opening fifteen matches, faced heavy protest from supporters throughout a turbulent evening marked by frustration on and off the pitch. United entered the match under pressure after dropping points in a draw against West Ham the previous week, prompting manager Ruben Amorim to demand a response from his players. That response arrived early. Fernandes opened the scoring midway through the first half after Casemiro dispossessed André, setting up a sequence in which the United captain recovered from a brief slip, eluded Emmanuel Agbadou, and drove a low shot past goalkeeper Sam Johnstone. The goal intensified the unrest in the stands, where Wolves fans—many of whom intentionally delayed their arrival until the fifteenth minute in protest—voiced anger toward the club’s ownership group, Fosun, and chairman Jeff Shi. Their frustration deepened as United continued to carve out chances. Bryan Mbeumo forced a sharp save from Johnstone, while both Matheus Cunha and Amad Diallo came close to doubling the lead.

Despite Wolves’ struggles in attack, the home side managed an unexpected equalizer in first-half stoppage time. David Moller Wolfe delivered a cutback into the area, and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde stretched to drive the ball into the turf and past the defense for Wolves’ first league goal since late October. United emerged from the halftime interval with renewed urgency and reclaimed the lead just six minutes into the second half. A forceful challenge from Luke Shaw initiated a counterattack that culminated with Dalot drawing Johnstone off his line before laying the ball across for Mbeumo, who tapped into an open net. The goal restored calm for the visitors and shifted momentum firmly in their favor. Fernandes continued to influence proceedings, sending a deftly clipped pass into the box for Mason Mount to convert in the sixty-second minute. Wolves, meanwhile, made changes that revealed the crowd’s mounting displeasure; forward Jorgen Strand Larsen was loudly jeered when substituted, visibly reacting to the supporters’ response.

United sealed the match in the eighty-second minute after a VAR review determined that Yerson Mosquera had handled a shot from Diallo. Fernandes converted the ensuing penalty with authority, securing his brace and closing out a dominant performance for United. The jeers that met the announcement of nine minutes of added time echoed the atmosphere of the night—a club in turmoil, unable to stem its slide, and a fanbase exasperated by ownership and on-field results alike. When the final whistle sounded, Wolves’ season-long struggles were once again laid bare, while Manchester United departed buoyed by a convincing victory and a climb back toward the league’s upper tier.
