Nuggets signing 6-time All-Star DeMar DeRozan to 1-year deal.

Six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan is headed to Denver, giving the Nuggets another proven scorer and playmaker as they look to compete for a championship. DeRozan has agreed to a one-year, $3.9 million contract with the Nuggets, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. The 37-year-old veteran chose Denver after also drawing interest from the Miami Heat, Washington Wizards and New Orleans Pelicans. Denver made a strong push to bring DeRozan aboard, emphasizing how his offensive skill set could complement Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. The Nuggets also view his experience as valuable after moving young wing Peyton Watson to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a four-team trade. DeRozan enters Denver following a productive 17th NBA season. He averaged 18.4 points per game while shooting nearly 50% from the field and appeared in 77 games. His durability has remained one of his biggest strengths, as he has played at least 70 games in each of the past five seasons.

The move comes after DeRozan became a free agent earlier this offseason when the Sacramento Kings waived him. Only $10 million of his $25.7 million salary for the 2026-27 season had been guaranteed. Although his scoring average dipped below 20 points last season for the first time in more than a decade, DeRozan remains one of the league's most accomplished veteran offensive players. Prior to last season, he had averaged at least 20 points in 12 consecutive seasons. DeRozan spent the first nine seasons of his career with the Toronto Raptors before playing three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs and three with the Chicago Bulls. He joined Sacramento in 2024. Now, DeRozan will join a Nuggets roster led by Jokic and Murray, providing Denver with another experienced offensive option as it enters the 2026-27 season with championship aspirations.
