Rattlers Rally to Secure 33–25 Win Over Albany State

TALLAHASSEE, FL – The Florida A&M Rattlers bounced back from an early deficit to defeat the Albany State Golden Rams 33–25 at Bragg Memorial Stadium on Saturday, September 13, marking the Rattlers’ first win of the 2025 season. After trailing at halftime, Florida A&M came alive in the third quarter, outscoring Albany State 16–3 to seize control of the game. Quarterback RJ Johnson III spearheaded the comeback with 272 passing yards and two touchdown throws, including a stunning 71-yard strike to Kenari Wilcher that electrified the home crowd. Running back Thad Franklin Jr. added balance to the Rattlers’ offense, rushing for 76 yards and two touchdowns, providing critical support as the team surged ahead in the second half. Albany State fought hard in defeat, with quarterback Isaiah Knowles passing for 201 yards and a touchdown. Running back Aljhanod Thomas added a rushing touchdown, and receiver Jamill Williams led the team with 74 receiving yards and a touchdown, keeping the Golden Rams competitive throughout.
With the victory, Florida A&M improves to 1–2 on the season, while Albany State falls to 2–1. Both teams now turn their attention to their upcoming matchups: the Rattlers host Alabama State on September 27, while the Golden Rams face Allen University the same day.
The win showcased Florida A&M’s resilience and ability to capitalize on key plays in the second half, providing optimism for the remainder of their season. Albany State, despite the loss, showed flashes of promise that could serve them well in their next contest.
