San Francisco Giants Secure One-Year Agreement with Luis Arraez.

The San Francisco Giants have reached an agreement on a one-year contract with veteran infielder Luis Arraez, according to multiple reports. The deal, reportedly worth $12 million, is subject to a successful physical and has not yet been officially announced by the team.

Arraez, a three-time batting champion, is expected to serve as the Giants’ full-time second baseman in 2026. He joins a roster that already includes established infielders such as Matt Chapman, Willy Adames, and Rafael Devers. A native of Venezuela, Arraez has earned three All-Star selections and two Silver Slugger Awards during his seven-season career. Over the past three years, he led Major League Baseball in hits and maintained a combined batting average of .328, while striking out at an exceptionally low rate. Despite these offensive strengths, his slugging numbers and walk rate have lagged, and defensive metrics have frequently rated his fielding as below average. In the 2025 season—the first full year of his tenure with the San Diego Padres—Arraez batted .292 with eight home runs and 11 stolen bases. His overall offensive production dipped compared to prior seasons, marked by an adjusted OPS below the league average.

Arraez has previously played multiple infield positions, but his primary role with the Giants is anticipated to be at second base, a position he has not occupied full time since 2023.
