SEATTLE — Bennett Stirtz led the Iowa Hawkeyes with 22 points, including four 3-pointers, as Iowa defeated the Washington Huskies 84-74 on Wednesday, marking its fifth consecutive victory. Alvaro Folgueiras contributed 16 points, while Tavion Banks and Cooper Koch each added 11 points, all coming in the second half. Banks’s missed free throw with 29 seconds left in the first half ended his streak of 30 consecutive made free throws, four short of the program record held by Chris Street (1993) and Jordan Bohannon (2018).
For Washington, Hannes Steinbach posted 20 points and 12 rebounds, recording his 15th double-double of the season—the most ever by a freshman in program history. Zoom Diallo had 16 points, a career-high 12 assists, and six rebounds, while Wesley Yates III contributed 15 points. The Huskies briefly held a seven-point lead when Franck Kepnang dunked with 18:41 remaining, but Washington went without a field goal for more than seven minutes, turning an 18-4 Iowa run that put the Hawkeyes ahead 63-56 with 12:59 left. Washington shot 76.9 percent (20 of 26) in the first half, one of the best halves in Big Ten history since 2018-19, but cooled off in the second half, making only 36 percent (9 of 25) of their shots.
Iowa will host Northwestern on Sunday, while Washington travels to UCLA on Saturday.
