Timmons, Weathers Lead Alabama Women to Fourth-Quarter Comeback Over Mississippi State.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Jessica Timmons scored a career-high 28 points, leading No. 23 Alabama to an 85-78 victory over Mississippi State on Sunday, with Karly Weathers also making a significant impact in the fourth quarter. Weathers contributed 11 of her 13 points in the final period, while Timmons added seven points in the fourth, finishing with 18 in the second half. Timmons had 11 points in the third quarter as Alabama built an eight-point lead with 3½ minutes remaining. However, Mississippi State responded with six consecutive made shots, four by Jaylah Lampley, to take a 60-56 lead heading into the final period. The fourth quarter featured three lead changes before Alabama pulled ahead for good. Weathers converted a layup and a three-pointer, and Timmons completed a three-point play to secure the lead. Mississippi State narrowed the gap to 74-70 before Weathers’ second three-pointer of the quarter extended Alabama’s lead to seven with two minutes remaining. In addition to Timmons and Weathers, Diana Collins scored 15 points, while Naomi Jones and Ace Austin each contributed 10 points for Alabama (18-3, 4-3 SEC). For Mississippi State (15-6, 2-5 SEC), Favour Nwaedozi led with 19 points, Madison Francis had 16 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals, Lampley scored 14, and Trayanna Crisp added 11.

Alabama opened the game with four players hitting three-pointers in the first quarter, giving the Crimson Tide a 15-14 lead. The teams exchanged leads five times early in the second quarter before Alabama took a 35-31 advantage at halftime. The Crimson Tide converted 20 of 24 free throws, including Timmons’ perfect 11-for-11, while Mississippi State made 18 of 21 from the line.
