SAN FRANCISCO — Golden State relied on balance and long-range shooting to secure a 136–116 victory over the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night, knocking down 23 three-pointers and placing eight players in double figures. De’Anthony Melton led the Warriors with 24 points, while Draymond Green added 20. Brandin Podziemski scored 16, and both Stephen Curry and Buddy Hield contributed 14 points apiece. Ten different Golden State players connected on at least one three-pointer, extending an NBA-record streak of three consecutive games with 10 or more players making a shot from beyond the arc, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. The Warriors attempted 52 shots from three-point range and converted nearly half, continuing their recent strong play. The win marked Golden State’s third straight and improved its record to 5–1 during the current eight-game homestand.
Charlotte was led by Brandon Miller, who scored a game-high 28 points, while Kon Knueppel added 24. The Hornets trimmed a halftime deficit to just three points midway through the third quarter after a Knueppel layup made it 82–79. Golden State quickly responded with a decisive 20–5 run, punctuated by a corner three from Hield that pushed the lead to 102–84 late in the period. The Warriors built early momentum and held a 69–54 lead late in the second quarter before Miller hit a 62-foot buzzer-beater to cut the deficit to 69–57 at halftime. Golden State shot 13-for-26 from deep in the first half, despite Curry missing both of his attempts.
Rookie Will Richard made the start in place of Jimmy Butler, who was unavailable due to personal reasons. Charlotte will continue its road trip Sunday in Denver, while Golden State hosts Miami on Monday.
