ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild continue to steamroll through November, extending their winning streak to seven games with a thrilling 3-2 shootout victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night. Kirill Kaprizov was the star in regulation, scoring twice, while Mats Zuccarello and Matt Boldy sealed the shootout win for Minnesota. Goaltender Jesper Wallstedt was a wall in net, stopping 39 shots and earning his sixth straight victory, improving his record to 7-0-2 this season. Colorado’s perfect run came to a halt as Nathan MacKinnon and Gabriel Landeskog each scored for the Avalanche. Scott Wedgewood made 35 saves but saw his career-high eight-game winning streak end. The game was a rare matchup of hot streaks—both teams entered the contest with winning streaks of six or more games. The last time that happened in NHL history was in January 2020, when Tampa Bay and Vancouver faced off.

In the shootout, Boldy scored in the third round, while Wallstedt made a crucial glove save on Cale Makar to clinch the win. Landeskog had tied the game late in regulation, battling for the puck at the right post and lifting it over Wallstedt with under nine minutes remaining.

MacKinnon opened the scoring in the first period, becoming the first NHL player this season to reach 40 points. Kaprizov answered in the second with his 200th career goal and added another later in the period to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead. His home goal was also a milestone—the 114th of his career, setting a new franchise record.

The Avalanche had gone more than 221 minutes without allowing a goal before Kaprizov broke through, marking a franchise record for shutout time.

Looking Ahead:

  • Avalanche: Host Montreal on Saturday.

  • Wild: Host Buffalo on Saturday night.

Minnesota’s streak shows no signs of slowing, while Colorado will look to bounce back quickly from their first loss in 11 games.
