BUFFALO, N.Y. — Mats Zuccarello scored on the power play 1:47 into overtime, giving the Minnesota Wild a 5–4 victory over the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday afternoon at KeyBank Center. The game-winning goal came off a feed from Kirill Kaprizov, who recorded three assists in the contest as Minnesota snapped a three-game stretch without a win. Marcus Foligno, Ryan Hartman, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Quinn Hughes also found the net for the Wild. Goaltender Filip Gustavsson stopped 20 shots in the win. Buffalo received goals from Ryan McLeod, Peyton Krebs, Jack Quinn, and Alex Tuch. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen finished with 20 saves, but the Sabres suffered just their third loss in their last 18 games. Foligno opened the scoring midway through the first period, but McLeod responded less than a minute later to tie the game. Hartman restored Minnesota’s lead with a goal in the final seconds of the opening period, and Tarasenko extended it early in the second.
The Sabres rallied as Krebs and Quinn scored 1:27 apart to even the game. Tuch’s power-play goal late in regulation put Buffalo ahead 4–3 before Hughes answered with a slap shot to force overtime. Minnesota will continue its road trip in Toronto on Monday, while Buffalo begins a five-game road swing in Carolina.
