The Alabama State Lady Hornets used a dominant rebounding performance and timely scoring to secure a 75–64 victory, overcoming a scrappy opponent that struggled to find consistent offense down the stretch. Clearia Peterson anchored Alabama State on both ends of the floor, posting a monster double-double with 19 points and 17 rebounds in 39 minutes. Peterson’s physical presence in the paint helped the Lady Hornets control the glass, finishing with a commanding 49–32 rebounding advantage, including 21 offensive boards. Ny’Keria Flowers delivered a strong perimeter showing, scoring 11 points while knocking down 3-of-4 from three-point range. Shamya Reid added 12 points and 4 assists, while Caylee Simpson chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds, giving Alabama State balanced production from its starting unit. Off the bench, Amari Franklin provided an important scoring spark, finishing with 11 points and going a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line, helping Alabama State stay steady during key moments. The opposing team leaned heavily on free throws to stay competitive. Tahnyjia Purifoy led the way with 18 points, hitting 10-of-11 from the stripe, while Shaniyah McCarthy added 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Breazia Robinson was efficient, scoring 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting, but overall shooting struggles proved costly.
Despite forcing 24 turnovers and recording 14 steals, the opposition shot just 34% from the field and 1-of-8 from three-point range, limiting their ability to capitalize on defensive pressure. Alabama State also did damage at the foul line, converting 20-of-27 free throws compared to 23-of-29 by their opponent.
In the end, Alabama State’s ability to dominate the boards, protect the paint, and get contributions throughout the lineup proved to be the difference as the Lady Hornets closed out a solid 75–64 win.
