The Colorado Avalanche are heading to the Western Conference Final after powering through the first two rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs with an 8-1 record.
Colorado clinched its spot in the conference championship round with a dramatic 4-3 overtime win over the Minnesota Wild on May 13 at Ball Arena, wrapping up the second-round series in five games. The victory marked the Avalanche’s first trip past the second round since their Stanley Cup championship run in 2022. Now, the Avalanche will face the Vegas Golden Knights in a matchup between the Central Division and Pacific Division champions. Vegas advanced after defeating the Anaheim Ducks in six games, while Colorado swept the Los Angeles Kings before dispatching Minnesota in five.
The NHL schedule gives the Avalanche several days off before the series begins. Game 1 is set for May 20 in Denver, where Colorado earned home-ice advantage for the series.
