PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Azzi Fudd scored 18 points and Sarah Strong added 17 as No. 1-ranked UConn extended its winning streak to 30 games with a 90-53 triumph over Providence on Wednesday. The Huskies (14-0, 5-0 Big East) have not lost since an 80-76 defeat to Tennessee on February 6, 2024, and have now won 52 consecutive games against Big East opponents. Blanca Quinonez contributed seven consecutive points during a 21-0 run that put Connecticut ahead 30-7 at the end of the first quarter, finishing the game with 11 points.
Providence (8-7, 1-3) made only two of its first three shots and missed 11 of the next 12 attempts to close the opening quarter. The Friars managed only three field goals in the second quarter as well, shooting 26% in the first half. Fudd and Strong rested during the final quarter. UConn finished with 24 assists, marking the 13th consecutive game in which the team recorded at least 20 assists. Sabou Gueye led Providence with 12 points.
The Friars committed 30 turnovers, while UConn turned the ball over 21 times. Connecticut has now won the last 38 matchups against Providence and holds a 51-21 record all-time against the Friars.
