The New York Liberty have re-signed forward Betnijah Laney-Hamilton to a one-year contract reportedly worth $400,000, according to ESPN. The agreement marks her return after missing the entire 2025 season due to a meniscus injury in her left knee that required surgery. Laney-Hamilton, a crucial contributor to the Liberty’s 2024 championship run, had also dealt with right knee issues that caused her to miss 12 regular-season games that year. Despite those setbacks, she averaged 11.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. She played a significant role in the postseason, starting every game as the Liberty secured their first title. Before joining New York in 2021, Laney-Hamilton revitalized her career with the Atlanta Dream after being waived by the Indiana Fever ahead of the 2020 season. That year, she posted career-best averages of 17.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game, along with 1.6 steals. Her performance earned her the WNBA Most Improved Player award and a spot on the All-Defensive First Team. In 2021, Laney-Hamilton continued her success by earning her first All-Star selection with the Liberty, solidifying her role as a key player for the franchise.
