In a commanding performance Friday night at Truist Park, the Atlanta Braves overcame an early three-run deficit to defeat the Colorado Rockies 12-4, led by pivotal three-run home runs from Marcell Ozuna and Michael Harris II. The game marked another step in Atlanta’s effort to reassert dominance in the National League while continuing Colorado’s recent struggles. Colorado got on the board early with a 441-foot two-run homer from Ryan McMahon in the first inning off Braves starter Bryce Elder. McMahon finished the night with three hits, doing his part to build a 4-1 Rockies lead by the middle innings. Michael Toglia added to the scoring with a run-scoring single. However, the momentum began to shift in the sixth inning when Michael Harris II tied the game with a three-run homer to right field off Colorado reliever Jake Bird. One inning later, Marcell Ozuna delivered the go-ahead blast, launching a three-run homer to left off Victor Vodnik (1-2), scoring Alex Verdugo and Matt Olson and giving Atlanta a 7-4 lead. Ronald Acuña Jr., continuing his comeback from surgery on his left knee, opened the game with a double and later stole second base in the fifth inning. He collected three hits on the night and was nearly 4-for-4 before being robbed of a hit by a leaping catch from Rockies left fielder Jordan Beck in the seventh.
Matt Olson contributed heavily on offense with three hits and three RBIs, while Enyel De Los Santos (2-2) pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win. One notable emotional highlight came in the second inning when former Braves infielder Orlando Arcia stepped up for his first at-bat with Colorado. Recently released by Atlanta and signed by the Rockies on May 28, Arcia received an ovation from Braves fans and paused to acknowledge the crowd before singling past shortstop Nick Allen. With the win, Atlanta improved their record and kept pace in the National League playoff picture, while Colorado continues to search for consistency amid a difficult season.
