LOS ANGELES — The Milwaukee Brewers are heading back to the World Series for the first time in 44 years after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-4 in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series on Thursday night, completing a four-game sweep of the defending champions. Milwaukee overcame an early four-run deficit to secure the victory, with Garrett Mitchell delivering a crucial home run in the sixth inning against Dodgers reliever Tanner Scott. Mitchell's hit gave the Brewers the lead and helped shift momentum in Milwaukee's favor. Los Angeles appeared to be in control early in the contest. Shohei Ohtani hit his first home run of the postseason as the Dodgers built a 4-0 advantage. However, Milwaukee responded with a comeback that ultimately ended Los Angeles' hopes of winning a third consecutive World Series championship. The Brewers continued to apply pressure throughout the game, while their bullpen prevented the Dodgers from mounting a late comeback. In the ninth inning, David Hamilton provided additional insurance with a two-out solo home run against Edwin Díaz, extending Milwaukee's lead to 6-4. The home run was a significant contribution from Hamilton, who recorded just four during the regular season.

Milwaukee's relief pitchers protected the advantage in the closing innings, securing the victory and completing one of the franchise's most significant postseason achievements.

The series victory also represented a reversal from the previous postseason, when Los Angeles eliminated Milwaukee in a four-game NLCS sweep. This time, the Brewers controlled the series and prevented the Dodgers from earning another opportunity to compete for a championship. Milwaukee last appeared in the World Series in 1982, when the franchise was part of the American League. The Brewers fell to the St. Louis Cardinals in seven games during that championship series.

Now, more than four decades later, Milwaukee has another opportunity to pursue its first World Series title. With the National League pennant secured, the Brewers will enter the Fall Classic looking to complete their postseason run with a historic championship.
