ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Tampa Bay Rays are headed back to the World Series after defeating the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series on Monday night, October 19. Freddy Peralta delivered a strong performance on the mound, pitching 5 1/3 innings to help Tampa Bay secure the American League pennant. The Rays also received key offensive contributions from Junior Caminero and Yandy Díaz, who each hit a two-run home run to help power the victory. Tampa Bay's offense provided the necessary support as the Rays closed out the series and earned their third World Series appearance in franchise history. The achievement marks another significant milestone for the organization, which has reached the championship series three times in its 29 seasons.

For Cleveland, the defeat brought its postseason run to an end and extended the franchise's World Series championship drought to 78 years. Despite advancing to the ALCS, the Guardians fell short of an opportunity to compete for their first championship since 1948.

The Rays will now turn their attention to the Milwaukee Brewers in a World Series matchup featuring two franchises seeking their first championship. Milwaukee secured its place in the Fall Classic by defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series, setting up a championship matchup between two teams looking to make franchise history. Game 1 of the World Series is scheduled for Friday, October 23, in Milwaukee.

With the American League title secured, Tampa Bay enters the final stage of the postseason with an opportunity to capture its first World Series championship.
