LOS ANGELES — October 15, 2026 — The Milwaukee Brewers moved within one victory of reaching the World Series after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 on Wednesday night at Dodger Stadium. A pair of consecutive home runs from Jake Bauers and Garrett Mitchell in the seventh inning helped Milwaukee take a commanding 3-0 lead in the National League Championship Series. Los Angeles appeared to have momentum after taking a 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, but Milwaukee quickly responded against Dodgers starting pitcher Blake Snell. Andrew Vaughn opened the seventh with a walk before Christian Yelich entered as a pinch-runner. Bauers then battled through an 11-pitch at-bat before launching a 412-foot, two-run homer to right field, giving Milwaukee a 3-2 advantage. Mitchell followed with a 428-foot solo home run to right-center field, extending the Brewers' lead to 4-2 and ending Snell's outing. Before Milwaukee's seventh-inning rally, Snell had retired 14 consecutive batters. The two-time Cy Young Award winner finished with nine strikeouts, allowing four runs on four hits while issuing two walks. Milwaukee established an early advantage when Jackson Chourio hit Snell's first pitch of the game over the fence for a solo home run. The Dodgers struggled to generate consistent offense but finally broke through in the sixth inning. Milwaukee reliever Abner Uribe walked Teoscar Hernández, Kyle Tucker and Shohei Ohtani to load the bases.

Will Smith delivered a two-run double into left-center field, giving Los Angeles its first lead of the night. The hit was Smith's first of the series after entering the game with a .043 batting average. However, the Dodgers were unable to maintain their advantage as Milwaukee's offense took control in the following inning. The Brewers continued adding runs late in the game. Brice Turang scored in the eighth inning on a wild pitch from Dodgers reliever Justin Wrobleski, increasing Milwaukee's lead to 5-2. Joey Ortiz added another insurance run in the ninth with a two-strike RBI single, giving the Brewers a four-run cushion.

Milwaukee's bullpen also played an important role in protecting the lead. DL Hall entered after Uribe and recorded two strikeouts while allowing one hit before Trevor Megill took over in the eighth inning. Despite putting runners on base in six innings, Los Angeles struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities. The Dodgers also remained without a home run through the first three games of the NLCS. Ohtani finished 1-for-2 with a walk while batting sixth in the lineup, his lowest position in the batting order since joining Los Angeles. The defeat leaves the Dodgers facing elimination and the possibility of being swept in the NLCS. Los Angeles has fallen behind 3-0 in a best-of-seven postseason series only once before, when the Baltimore Orioles swept the Dodgers in the 1966 World Series. For Milwaukee, the victory represents an opportunity to reverse last season's NLCS result, when Los Angeles eliminated the Brewers in four games. The Brewers have also never defeated the Dodgers in their three previous postseason matchups, making this series a potential turning point in the teams' playoff history. With Milwaukee holding a 3-0 series advantage, the Dodgers must win four consecutive games to keep their hopes of another championship alive.

Game 4 is scheduled for Thursday at Dodger Stadium, where Milwaukee will have an opportunity to complete the sweep and secure a trip to the World Series.
