The Colorado Rockies announced several coaching staff decisions on Monday, confirming that Ron Gideon, Andy González, and Jordan Pacheco will all return to manager Warren Schaeffer’s staff for the 2026 season. Gideon has been promoted to the newly created position of assistant bench coach, while González will continue as third base coach and Pacheco remains assistant hitting coach. Gideon previously served as the team’s first base and outfield coach for seven seasons and has been part of the Rockies organization for three decades. His experience includes nine years on the Major League staff and numerous leadership roles throughout the club’s Minor League system, including multiple managerial positions and player development assignments. The Rockies also confirmed that bullpen catchers Kyle Cunningham and Chris Rabago will return in 2026. Cunningham will continue contributing to advance scouting and game planning, responsibilities he added last season. Rabago, entering his second year on the Major League staff, will take on expanded duties as the team’s catching instructor. These five coaches join Matt Buschmann (bullpen coach), Alon Leichman (pitching coach), Jeff Pickler (bench coach), Brett Pill (hitting coach), and Gabe Ribas (assistant pitching coach). The first base coach position remains the only vacancy on Schaeffer’s staff. González began the 2025 season as assistant hitting coach before shifting to third base and infield coach midway through the year. A native of Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, González has spent 11 seasons in the Rockies organization and has held a variety of development and coaching roles at both the Major League and Minor League levels.

Pacheco joined the Major League coaching staff in May after starting the season as Triple-A Albuquerque’s hitting coach. A former Major League player, Pacheco spent four seasons with the Rockies during his 14-year professional playing career and led the team with a .309 batting average in 2012. Cunningham, a St. John’s University graduate, has served as a bullpen catcher for seven seasons and played briefly in the Rockies’ Minor League system. Rabago, a former Rockies draft pick, spent eight seasons in Minor League baseball and reached the Triple-A level before transitioning into coaching.
