ree

The Colorado School of Mines baseball players battled two opponents simultaneously April 5-7, as they took on Adams State and Mother Nature in a blustery weekend series. After winning the April 5 opener 13-10, Mines fell in the first game of April 6’s scheduled doubleheader 11-However, as winds reached extreme speeds by midafternoon, the teams postponed the doubleheader’s second game to the following day.

The Grizzlies started the April 7 doubleheader with a jaw-dropping 28-15 win, scoring 23 runs in the final four innings. The teams used a combined 10 pitchers, only one of whom had a scoreless outing.

The Orediggers’ six errors were costly in the first game, but they found their proverbial second wind in series’ final game and won 6-2. Mines redshirt senior Weston Siefken dominated the day, starting for the second time in his college career and pitching the entire final seven-inning game. Across 105 pitches, he allowed two runs on eight hits with four strikeouts and two walks.

The Orediggers are now 19-15 overall and 12-8 against RMAC opponents. They’ll next take on the Regis Rangers April 12-14 in Denver.
