CLEVELAND — Cade Cunningham recorded 27 points and Daniss Jenkins contributed 25, including 21 in the second quarter, as the Detroit Pistons withstood a late push to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 114–110 on Sunday. Despite missing two starters, Detroit, which leads the Eastern Conference, earned a rare road victory in Cleveland, snapping a nine-game skid at Rocket Arena. The Pistons have now beaten the Cavaliers only twice in their last 15 meetings. Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland with 30 points, scoring 23 after halftime. The Cavaliers trimmed a 13-point deficit to 108–106 when Darius Garland scored with 1:16 remaining. However, Ausar Thompson answered with a crucial tip-in with 17.2 seconds left, and Jenkins sealed the win by making four free throws in the final seconds. Cunningham was perfect at the line, finishing 11-for-11, as Detroit converted all 21 of its free-throw attempts. Garland finished with 16 points but missed all seven of his three-point attempts. Evan Mobley and Sam Merrill added 15 points each for Cleveland, whose three-game winning streak came to an end. Jenkins made team history by scoring 21 points in the second quarter on flawless shooting, setting a franchise record for a Pistons reserve in a single quarter. He surpassed the previous record of 20 points held by Ron Holland in 2024 and Jodie Meeks in 2014. Jenkins drained six three-pointers and completed a three-point play during the period, helping Detroit score a season-high 47 points in the quarter and take a 66–56 halftime lead.

The Pistons played without starters Tobias Harris (hip) and Jalen Duren (ankle), as well as reserve Caris LeVert (knee). Head coach J.B. Bickerstaff described Harris as a key stabilizing presence, noting that he could miss several weeks. Detroit will host New York on Monday, while Cleveland travels to Indiana on Tuesday.
