The Detroit Lions have officially been eliminated from the 2025 NFL postseason following their 23-10 loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day. Despite the season ending without a playoff appearance, star wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is eager to play in the team’s final game of the year, even after sustaining a knee injury late in the Vikings matchup. St. Brown was hit by cornerback Byron Murphy and immediately favored his right knee before leaving the game without speaking to reporters. Lions head coach Dan Campbell addressed St. Brown’s status during a media session, noting that the receiver’s long-term health would remain the top priority. Campbell stated that while St. Brown is dealing with some pain, the injury is not expected to have lasting effects. He emphasized that if there were a risk of long-term damage, the team would not allow him to play solely for the sake of participation. Campbell confirmed that St. Brown’s official status is day-to-day, noting that the player has improved and remains determined to play against the Chicago Bears and former offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.

This season, St. Brown has earned his fourth consecutive Pro Bowl selection, recording 106 receptions for 1,262 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite the team’s inability to reach the postseason, Campbell remains focused on extracting value from the final game. He sees it as an opportunity to evaluate players’ performance and mindset under challenging circumstances, even with nothing at stake in the standings.

The Lions are set to face the Bears at Soldier Field on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. While Detroit’s season concludes, Chicago has secured the NFC North division title for the first time since 2018, ending the Lions’ two-year streak atop the division.
