Colorado coach Deion Sanders has stated that he is not attempting to influence his son, Shedeur Sanders, regarding his destination in the upcoming draft next month. He expressed that he would be pleased with any team that selects his talented quarterback son. "Shedeur has shared with me his thoughts on the visits he’s had with various teams, so I understand his preferences and aspirations," Sanders remarked during an interview on "The Skip Bayless Show," with the video released on Wednesday. "Whether it’s New York, Tennessee, Cleveland, the Raiders, New Orleans, or any other team in need of a quarterback, I am content with it. I have confidence in what he will bring to the organization.
These remarks from Deion Sanders differ from his statements made last March on the "Million Dollaz Worth of Game" podcast, where he indicated that there were certain cities that would not be suitable for Shedeur, referencing the situation of two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning, who was drafted first overall in 2004 by the Chargers but refused to play for them. Following this, he was traded to the New York Giants. When Bayless inquired if Sanders would attempt to "orchestrate" Shedeur's draft position, he firmly replied, "No, no, no. That’s not God's will at this moment. I want Shedeur to continue to excel against all odds. I embrace the criticism and skepticism because it motivates us and gives him an additional drive." Shedeur Sanders is anticipated to be a first-round pick, with ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller projecting him to be selected third overall by the Giants in his latest seven-round mock draft released on Thursday.
