Duke vs Virginia Results: No. 1 Duke Clinches ACC Tournament Top Seed With 77-51 Win Over No. 11 Virginia

DURHAM, N.C. — No. 1 Duke secured the top seed in the ACC Tournament with a commanding 77-51 victory over No. 11 Virginia on Saturday night, strengthening its hold on the conference race entering the final week of the regular season.

The breaking update improves Duke to 27-2 overall and 15-1 in ACC play, giving the Blue Devils at least a two-game cushion over the rest of the league. With two regular season games remaining, Duke must win one to clinch the outright ACC regular season title.

Sophomore Isaiah Evans led the way with 19 points, knocking down 5 three pointers. Three came in the opening four minutes as Duke established early offensive rhythm. The Blue Devils shot 12 for 24 from beyond the arc and 49.1 percent overall, with seven players connecting from 3-point range.

Freshman Cameron Boozer added 18 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Though he shot 3 for 9 from the field, Boozer made 11 of 12 free throws, all in the first half, consistently drawing double teams and creating perimeter opportunities. His presence inside forced Virginia to collapse defensively, opening space for Duke’s shooters.

Duke built a 41-26 halftime lead and continued to expand the margin behind disciplined defense. The Blue Devils held Virginia to 29.1 percent shooting and 7 for 35 from three point range. Ball pressure and closeouts limited clean looks, disrupting a Cavaliers team that entered the night on a nine-game winning streak.

Thijs De Ridder paced Virginia with 16 points. The Cavaliers fell to 25-4 overall and 13-3 in conference play, narrowing their margin in the ACC standings and affecting potential NCAA Tournament seeding. Historically, Virginia dropped to 1-32 all-time against No. 1 ranked teams.

From an impact standpoint, Duke strengthens its case for the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The combination of perimeter depth, interior presence, and defensive efficiency continues to define its championship outlook.

Next steps: Virginia returns home to host Wake Forest on Tuesday in a key conference matchup.

Duke makes a short road trip to face NC State on Monday, with a win securing the outright ACC regular season title and maintaining momentum ahead of postseason play.
