Harrison Bader is set to join the San Francisco Giants, agreeing to a two-year, $20.5 million contract, according to Jon Heyman of The Post. The deal includes incentives that could raise the total value to $21 million. Bader, 31, had spent the previous two offseasons signing one-year contracts, but a strong finish to the 2025 season earned him a multi-year deal. He split last season between the Minnesota Twins and Philadelphia Phillies, posting career highs in nearly every major offensive category. The Gold Glove-winning center fielder began the season with the Twins before being traded to the Phillies at the deadline. During his time in Philadelphia, Bader excelled, hitting .305 with a .361 on-base percentage and a .463 slugging percentage, including five home runs and 16 RBIs over 50 games. Across 143 games last year, he recorded a .277/.347/.449 slash line with 17 home runs and 54 RBIs, amounting to a 122 wRC+, all career-best numbers. Despite speculation about potential reunions with his former New York teams, the Yankees’ re-signing of Cody Bellinger and the Mets’ acquisition of Luis Robert Jr. reduced the likelihood of Bader returning to either club. Bader originally joined the Yankees via trade from the St. Louis Cardinals in 2022, appearing in 98 games and hitting .237 with seven home runs and 46 RBIs. In 2023, the Cincinnati Reds claimed him off waivers in August.
Bader’s move to the Giants marks the next chapter in a career that has seen him impact multiple clubs across both leagues, providing veteran leadership and a strong defensive presence in center field.
