The Colorado State University men’s basketball team has gained a significant addition through the NCAA transfer portal. Former Virginia Tech point guard Brandon Rechsteiner, a four-star transfer according to 247Sports, has verbally committed to join the Rams for the upcoming season. Rechsteiner, a 6-foot-1 sophomore, played in 32 games for the Hokies during the 2024–25 season, starting 15 of them. He averaged 7 points and 2.8 assists per game and led the team with 91 total assists. His standout performance came during the ACC Tournament against California, where he scored a season-high 19 points. A native of Georgia, Rechsteiner was a standout at Etowah High School. As a senior, he averaged 18 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. His strong high school performance earned him a four-star ranking and the title of the 87th-best player nationally in his class. In addition to his basketball talent, Rechsteiner brings a unique pedigree to CSU. He is the son of professional wrestling legend Scott Rechsteiner, better known to fans as "Scott Steiner," one half of the famed “Steiner Brothers” tag team. His family background has generated additional interest in his athletic career.

Though Colorado State cannot officially comment on incoming recruits until paperwork is finalized, head coach Ali Farokhmanesh posted a celebratory message on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after Rechsteiner's announcement, signaling the program's enthusiasm.

Rechsteiner is the fourth transfer commit to CSU this offseason, and all four transfers are either ranked as four-star players or were four-star recruits in high school. His addition is expected to strengthen the Rams' backcourt and enhance the team’s competitiveness in the Mountain West Conference.
