Carolyn Fuller, a rising junior at the University of Colorado, made school history this week by becoming the first Buffalo to win the Colorado Golf Association Women’s Stroke Play Championship. The 78th edition of the event concluded Wednesday at Eisenhower Golf Club, where Fuller claimed the title with a total score of 1-over-par 217 across three rounds.

The Phoenix native began the 54-hole tournament with scores of 73 and 74, entering the final day tied for the lead. In the pressure-filled final round, Fuller delivered one of only four under-par rounds for the entire tournament, firing a 2-under 70 to win the Championship Division by two strokes.

“I just stayed steady these three days, trying not to get myself worked up or look too far ahead,” Fuller said in a post-round interview. “Everything was just solid.”

Fuller’s final round featured four birdies and only two bogeys, highlighted by back-to-back birdies on holes eight and nine. After giving one shot back on the 14th, she recovered with a birdie at the par-5 16th and closed out the win with pars on the final two holes. Fuller credited her calm mindset and the support of her caddie—CU men’s golfer Hunter Swanson—for her steady play. This CGA title adds to what has already been a breakout summer for Fuller. Just days before her win at Eisenhower, she took medalist honors at the USGA Women’s Amateur Qualifier in Phoenix. She also recorded a top-20 finish at the Southwestern Amateur and placed in the top 10 at the Irish Women’s Amateur Open.

“I’m proud of the fact that the work I’ve been putting in this last year is transitioning to showing in my results,” Fuller said. “It felt nice to come out here and play with low expectations, but full intent to put together three rounds of pure focus.”

Next up for Fuller is the 2025 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship, set for August 4–10 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon. She’ll be joined by incoming CU transfer Maya McVey, who also qualified through the CGA.
