ST. LOUIS — St. Louis CITY SC returned to MLS action in emphatic fashion, defeating Austin FC 6-3 at CITYPARK and extending its home winning streak to three matches. The high-scoring affair saw Niko Gioacchini become the first player in club history to reach double-digit goals, while Tim Parker continued his remarkable scoring run from the back line and Eduard Löwen orchestrated the attack with a three-assist performance. CITY SC wasted little time taking control. Defender Tim Parker opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, rising to meet a Löwen corner kick and powering a header into the net. The goal marked Parker’s fourth of the season and his third consecutive home match with a goal. Gioacchini doubled the advantage deep into first-half stoppage time, finishing from close range after another setup from Löwen. Just five minutes into the second half, the forward struck again on a fast break, giving St. Louis a commanding 3-0 lead and reaching 10 goals for the season. Austin FC began its comeback attempt in the 61st minute when Sebastián Driussi converted a penalty kick. The visitors continued to push forward, but CITY SC responded through Sam Adeniran in the 72nd minute. The forward cut inside from the left side and blasted a finish into the top corner to restore a three-goal cushion. Austin narrowed the deficit again late when Will Bruin scored in the 87th minute. However, CITY SC answered immediately as Tomás Ostrák finished another Löwen-assisted attack one minute later. Emiliano Rigoni added a stoppage-time goal for Austin, but Adeniran had the final word, completing his second brace of the season with a clinical finish in the fifth minute of added time to seal the 6-3 victory.
Löwen’s three assists marked the most by a CITY SC player in a single MLS match this season and increased his season total to nine, placing him among the league leaders. The midfielder now has five career assists against Austin FC, the most by any player against the club in MLS competition. The victory added another chapter to St. Louis’ impressive inaugural campaign. CITY SC improved to 12-0-2 when scoring first this season and moved to 9-3-1 at CITYPARK. The club has now scored 35 goals in 13 home MLS matches and recorded its 10th win of the season when scoring at least three goals. Gioacchini’s milestone performance further cemented his place in club history, while Parker’s offensive contributions continue to stand out. Prior to joining St. Louis, the veteran defender scored just two goals in 217 MLS appearances. He has now doubled that total in only 21 matches with CITY SC. With four players now boasting at least five goals this season, St. Louis continues to showcase one of the league’s most balanced attacks as it pushes forward in the MLS playoff race.
