OTTAWA, Ontario — Stephen Halliday recorded two goals and an assist, while Dylan Cozens also found the net twice as the Ottawa Senators dominated the Vegas Golden Knights 7–1 on Sunday night. Halliday’s performance marked the second and third goals of his NHL career, giving the rookie a three-point night in his first season at the top level. Cozens matched him with two goals of his own as Ottawa overwhelmed a fatigued Vegas squad playing its third game in four nights. Linus Ullmark, the 2022–23 Vezina Trophy winner, returned to the Senators’ active roster after a personal leave but served as backup to Mads Sogaard. Sogaard turned aside 19 shots to earn the win. Fabian Zetterlund, Jordan Spence, and Nick Jensen also scored for Ottawa, while captain Brady Tkachuk contributed three assists in the lopsided victory. Vegas avoided the shutout when defenseman Rasmus Andersson scored in the third period, cutting the deficit to 7–1. The goal was Andersson’s first in two games with the Golden Knights since being acquired in a trade with the Calgary Flames.
The Golden Knights opened their four-game road trip with a 4–3 loss in Boston on Thursday before rebounding with a 6–3 win in Toronto on Friday. They continue the trip Tuesday night in Montreal.
Ottawa will return to home ice Wednesday night to host the Colorado Avalanche.
