Iowa State Cyclones Outshoot Arizona State Sun Devils 90-64 for Big 12 Victory in Ames


AMES, Iowa — The Iowa State Cyclones dominated the Arizona State Sun Devils 90-64 at Hilton Coliseum on Wednesday night, led by Jada Williams’ 26 points and Audi Crooks’ double-double of 28 points and 12 rebounds.


Iowa State (22-7, 11-4 Big 12) shot 53 percent from the floor, including 50 percent from beyond the arc, while converting 73 percent of their free throws. The Cyclones’ offensive efficiency and depth kept Arizona State at bay throughout the contest.


Williams connected on 9 of 16 field goals and 4 of 7 three-pointers, adding four assists and three steals. Crooks was nearly flawless with 11 of 19 shooting and 6 of 8 from the free throw line, contributing significantly on both ends of the floor. Addy Brown added six points but excelled with seven rebounds and six assists, helping maintain Iowa State’s balanced attack.


Arizona State (15-14, 6-9) struggled offensively, shooting just 36 percent from the field and 29 percent from three-point range. McKinna Brackens led the Sun Devils with 21 points on 10 for 13 shooting but received limited support from the rest of the roster. Gabby Elliott chipped in nine points with seven rebounds, while Marley Washenitz added six points and five boards.


The Cyclones established control early, building a 12 point lead by the end of the first quarter. Iowa State expanded the advantage with an efficient second quarter, outscoring Arizona State 28-14, and maintained a commanding lead throughout the second half. Arizona State briefly narrowed the gap in the third quarter, but Iowa State responded with timely three-pointers from Williams and Crooks, preserving a lead that never fell below 20 points.


The win marked Iowa State’s seventh straight home victory and reinforced their position near the top of the Big 12 standings. The Cyclones have now won 10 of their last 11 games overall, reflecting their consistency and depth on both offense and defense.


Next, Iowa State will travel to Kansas for a Sunday showdown, while Arizona State returns home to face Texas Tech. The Cyclones aim to sustain their winning streak and secure a higher seed for the upcoming Big 12 tournament, whereas Arizona State looks to regroup and address offensive inconsistencies highlighted in this loss.
